Keynote

Language has the power to divide and destroy, yet we are all human. If we truly listen to each other, understand and actually communicate, then language has the power to unite, to bring love, friendships and change the world for the better. How we label each other, and most importantly how we label ourselves, shapes the lives of those around us. Language evolves, words can have different meanings based on culture, and when we translate we can miss out on the emotional connection and context of our words, and often we speak without listening.

Joanne Lockwood, promotes a Diversity & Inclusion and specialises in Transgender Awareness and knows only too well how language, when used as a weapon or through carelessness can hurt and exclude people. She reminds us that, that each of us has value, and simply put; that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, and it is that, being listened to is key to belonging and feeling included.

When going through her own journey, she finally was able to overcome her own limiting beliefs, by simply saying “I am”, and was able to realise that by taking responsibility for believing in herself, then everyone else followed…

Key Take Away
To learn to listen and to understand that, what we say and how we say it, shapes our lives and those around us..!

Many people try to convince you that sourcing will disappear cause they can sell you the product that is smarter than you, and that’s ok. Other try to rename somehow what we do just to appear different, and that’s fine too. Why? Because while the nature of how we find, identify, and engage our talent is continuously evolving, sourcing in the hiring process remains critical. Sourcers are not junior recruiters! Sourcing is a mindset, it is in a class alone and undefined by any other within. And while it may have overlap with traditional recruiting, they are not one and the same.
Takeaways:
I’ll walk you through that very sourcing that encompasses all aspects of finding talent in their native habitat. Lessons learned and best practices on where to start, and what tools to use to make things happen.
Who should attend:
If you are new to sourcing, I welcome you. If you have been a recruiter for many years or a C-level executive looking to broaden your knowledge base, I welcome you too!

Nobody talks about the unsexy brands. Employer Brand stories are commonly associated with imagery and video content exhibiting cool workspaces, prominent brands, fussball tables, high fives and eye-catching aesthetics. But what about the unsexy brands? What about the company with not so many people, very little money to play with, positioned in B2B, that no-one really knows about? How do they compete for talent with all those big names that each aspiring professional wants to work for?
Steve will talk about some of his work with the underdogs in the talent attraction race, who don’t have the prominent brands, and certainly not the prominent budget – and how they can use people, social media, digital assets and emerging technology, to zone in on the right people, the right messages and draw quality applications from people with longevity.

Stories combine facts with emotion and can play a very important role in a world that overflows with information to create impact and be memorable. Storytelling in talent acquisition is an extremely powerful tool to attract, engage and nurture talent for your organisation and sets you apart from the competition. It makes the recruitment process human and helps candidates to connect with your organisation and its employees on a deeper level despite the introcuction of more automation and AI during the recruitment process. This session will explore how storytelling can be introduced into the recruitment process and showcases best practice examples.
